In a bid to revolutionize the digital payment landscape in Sri Lanka, LankaPay, the country’s National Payment Network, introduced two dynamic solutions, ‘JustPay Web’ and ‘PayMe,’ during a ceremony held at Shangri-la Colombo on February 20th.
PayMe, the first of the two solutions, presents an innovative and secure messaging service that generates universal payment links, enabling customers to make real-time payments conveniently via any PayMe-enabled mobile or web application. This feature facilitates both corporate and peer-to-peer transactions, offering hassle-free payment collection capabilities while ensuring transaction security and real-time confirmation. PayMe is adaptable to various scenarios, including C2C, B2C, C2B, and B2B, and promises to revolutionize digital payments in Sri Lanka with its customizable features and seamless user experience.
Meanwhile, JustPay Web serves as an alternative to Internet Payment Gateways (IPG), extending LankaPay’s pioneering payment product, JustPay, launched in 2017. JustPay Web enables customers to make direct payments via bank accounts on browser-based applications, providing a cost-effective solution for small-time merchants who find IPG fees prohibitive. With enhanced usability, accessibility, and security features, JustPay Web offers a seamless payment experience for e-commerce transactions while significantly reducing initial costs and Merchant Commissions (MDR) for merchants.
Mr. Channa de Silva, CEO of LankaPay, highlighted Sri Lanka’s remarkable digital transformation journey and presented statistics reflecting the nation’s progress in embracing digital payments. The event recognized pioneering efforts by key players such as Seylan Bank, Capital Alliance Limited, Bhasha Lanka (Private) Limited, Pay Master Solutions (Private) Limited, and DirectPay (Private) Limited in enabling payments via JustPay Web and PayMe.
The ceremony also featured a panel discussion with distinguished speakers including Mr. Dulith Herath, Founder & Chairman of Kapruka Holdings PLC; Mr. Chaminda Senevirathne, Head of Digital Banking, Seylan Bank PLC; Mr. Dhanika Perera, Founder of Helakuru, PayHere, HelaPay & Esana, CEO of Bhasha Lanka Pvt Ltd; and Mr. Ransika de Silva, Founder & CEO at Pay Master Solutions Pvt Ltd / Director at First Pay Pte Ltd, Singapore.
