Flipkart Launches UPI Handle, Enhancing Digital Payment Landscape

Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has unveiled its UPI handle, introducing a new dimension to its digital payment offerings for over 500 million customers. With a commitment to providing a distinctive customer experience, Flipkart’s UPI solution integrates loyalty features such as Supercoins, Cashbacks, Milestone benefits, and brand vouchers, promising unparalleled rewards and convenience. Under the tagline ‘India’s Most Rewarding UPI’, this innovative and secure solution aims to revolutionize the payment experience for users nationwide.

Powered by Axis Bank, Flipkart UPI is initially available for Android users, enabling seamless fund transfers and checkout payments through the Flipkart app. Customers can now register for UPI with the handle @fkaxis, accessing a range of functionalities designed to enhance payment efficiency and accessibility.

With UPI emerging as the preferred payment option in India, Flipkart’s UPI launch seeks to democratize access to seamless payment solutions, offering unparalleled convenience and zero-cost transactions. The introduction of one-click functionalities for recharges, bill payments, and online/offline merchant transactions within and outside the Flipkart marketplace further enhances user convenience.

Dheeraj Aneja, Senior Vice President – Fintech and Payments Group at Flipkart, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering excellence in the digital commerce space. Sanjeev Moghe, President & Head – Cards & Payments, Axis Bank, highlighted the significance of the partnership with Flipkart in expanding the UPI ecosystem. “Axis Bank has always been at the forefront of extending multiple payment flows of UPI to its customers,” said Moghe. “Our partnership with Flipkart has come a long way from launching one of India’s most successful co-branded credit cards to now launching the Flipkart UPI service.”

He further explained, “Customers can now register for UPI with @fkaxis handle and can do all fund transfers and checkout payments using the Flipkart app. This solution is cloud hosted and hence provides one of the most stable and scalable UPI platforms for customers.”

With UPI processing over 117 billion transactions worth INR 182.84 trillion in 2023, Flipkart UPI stands poised to significantly impact India’s digital payments landscape, aligning with the vision of a digital economy while catering to the evolving needs of millions of users nationwide.
