Commonwealth Bank and Supply Nation have united in a strategic collaboration to fortify and empower Indigenous businesses across Australia. The joint initiative is designed to furnish comprehensive financial products, services, education, and training, facilitating the growth of First Nations businesses.
“We’re committed to supporting and strengthening First Nations businesses, so they are set up for the future,” emphasized Mr. Vacy-Lyle, expressing the bank’s unwavering dedication to the Indigenous business sector. “We know that by strengthening First Nations businesses, we are supporting First Nations communities more broadly.”
The recently launched Indigenous Business Line and Concierge serve as a centralized point of entry, providing business owners access to a team of culturally trained business banking experts. This approach is crafted to enhance the customer experience and deliver tailored financial solutions to Indigenous businesses.
“Our Indigenous Business Banking team has a deep understanding of the needs of Indigenous businesses and the challenges they face, ensuring owners have access to the best financial products and services, education, and training to support the growth of their business,” added Mr. Vacy-Lyle.
The collaboration also introduces the Indigenous Business Education Series, addressing the need for continued education on topics such as cash flow management, cyber safety, fraud protection, risk, workplace health and safety, procurement, and marketing. This initiative is set to fortify business capabilities and resilience within the Indigenous business community.
Supply Nation’s CEO, Ms. Russell, emphasized the inclusive nature of the partnership, inviting all First Nations businesses to enroll in the Indigenous Business Education Series. “Our agreement with CommBank is about giving back to the Indigenous business community,” she expressed.
Ms. Kenmore, highlighting Commonwealth Bank’s commitment, stated, “We understand the importance of reflecting the community we serve and we are deeply committed to supporting the growth and prosperity of First Nations businesses around Australia.”
The joint offering also addresses the unique challenges faced by Indigenous businesses, as highlighted by Ms. Kenmore. “No matter where you are in Australia and what sector you’re in, whether its retail, tourism, healthcare and social assistance, transport, manufacturing and warehousing, our team of culturally trained Business Banking specialists can work together with you to realize your business goals,” she said.
In addition to financial support, the collaboration introduces Stream Working Capital, a solution aimed at managing cash flow timing risk for businesses like Impact Services. Kerry Fry, Chief Executive Officer of Impact Services, emphasized the benefit of loans secured against invoices. “It means that entrepreneurs building great businesses might have access to credit based on their track record, compliance, and customer base. That can provide an equal opportunity to compete and avoid the stress for those without property or that don’t want to risk the family home.”
Commonwealth Bank and Supply Nation’s joint effort signifies a significant step toward creating an inclusive and supportive ecosystem for Indigenous businesses, aligning with their shared commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainability in the Indigenous business sector.
