The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi proudly announces the introduction of an innovative service enabling electronic taxi fare payments through the “Alipay+” application. This strategic move aims to offer users flexible and diverse payment options, prioritizing convenience and safety.
In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, fintech trailblazer ‘PayBy,’ and other strategic partners, the service seamlessly integrates into the emirate’s taxi fleet. Alipay+, with its global reach of over 1.4 billion users across 10 different electronic wallets, caters to the needs of taxi users, especially tourists who predominantly rely on digital payments.
Paying taxi fares through the Alipay+ application is user-friendly and secure. Upon reaching their destination, passengers can request the driver to initiate payment by scanning the QR code on the POS devices. After the transaction is confirmed by the passenger and successfully completed, both driver and passenger receive notifications.
Credit card users can conveniently add their cards to their Alipay+ accounts for taxi fare payments. For those without credit cards, the option to recharge electronic wallets is available through online bank cards or in cash at designated kiosks, providing a seamless payment experience through the Alipay+ application.
This initiative aligns with the ITC’s customer-centric approach, aiming to exceed customer expectations and enhance satisfaction by integrating electronic payment wallets. It is part of the ITC’s digital transformation plan in collaboration with the private sector. The plan focuses on improving user experiences and contributes to creating a seamless and convenient transport system in Abu Dhabi, reflecting the ITC’s vision of leveraging modern technologies to establish Abu Dhabi as a smart and sustainable city in the realm of transport.
